fucking shakespeare
its how we british roll.
regular, bloody, public executions, unsanitary masses, and the thames river was a filthy vein across the entire city that you couldn’t even get within a mile’s radius of without choking on it’s stench, not even the royalty could look after themselves yet fucking shakespeare wrote a character modern script writers only dream of. i mean. what the actual fuck.
i think the best thing about Iago though is our inability to figure him out.
Often the ways of the villain are only lost to the hero and his peers, the audience tends to understand the villain almost better than himself, with Iago (maybe it’s just cos i’m not as smart) he’s always one step ahead, misleading everyone by doing misleading things. Even his sexuality is an enigma.
how the fuck does such a textually layered, multi faceted, flexible character such as this find itself created during a time when even bathing wasn’t done as often as it should have been.
no penicillin but fuck can we write a villain
i love you

when will everyone learn that if you hafto ask Iago what he just said, then you’re going to regret it. if you didn’t hear it the first time round, then well, you don’t want to hear it at all. but no. he murmurs under his breath and they follow him with a ‘what dost thou say Iago?’ and the smirk crawls on his face the way his plans unfold before him, i love this guy but even i would have cut out his tongue for my own safety
Iago is so gay
and evil
and smart
and psycho
and angry
and jealous
and dangerous
and cowardly
absolutely spineless
